PRP Hair Rejuvenation
Platelet Rich Plasma consists of two elements: plasma, or the liquid portion of blood and platelets, a type of blood cell that plays an important role in healing throughout the body. By using your own platelets, it stimulates tissue regeneration, Triggers cell growth, new follicular growth and collagen production.
A series of PRP treatments for hair rejuvenation may help awaken dormant follicles, provide nutrients for existing follicles and decrease hair loss.

Treatment Information
Pre Treatment
- No Anti-inflammatory medication or anticoagulants for 3 days prior (If taken, please discuss with family doctor prior to stopping any medication)
- Refrain from alcohol or ibuprofen for 12 hours before and after treatment
- Avoid alcohol based products on area being treated
- Avoid strenuous exercise or extreme heat on the day of treatment.
Post Treatment
- Do not touch area for a minimum of 4 hours
- It is recommended to avoid sweaty exercise and sun exposure for 72 hours post-procedure
- The skin feels dry and/or tight/itchy
- Change your pillow case the day of treatment
- Avoid Sun exposure for 72 hours on area
- Do not undergo other hair treatments for the next 2 weeks
- Do Not take NSAID’s drugs (aspirin, Advil, Motrin…) for 3 days after treatment
- Do Not drink alcohol for 72 hours after treatment
- Do Not take blood thinning agents such as vitamin E, vitamin A, Ginko, Garlic, Flax, Cod Liver Oil, Essential Fatty Acids at least one week after your treatment.
- Should you have any concerns at any time after your treatment, please contact your health care professional
- Avoid washing area until the following day after the treatment
Who is not a candidate for PRP Hair rejuvenation?
PRP used for aesthetic procedures is safe for most individuals between the ages of 18-80. Parental Consent required for patients under 18. There are very few contraindications, however, patients with the following conditions are not candidates:
- Acute and Chronic Infections
- Skin diseases (i.e. SLE, porphyria, allergies)
- Cancer
- Chemotherapy treatments
- Severe metabolic and systemic disorders
- Abnormal platelet function (blood disorders, i.e. Haemodynamic Instability, Hypofibrinogenemia, Critical Thrombocytopenia)
- Chronic Liver Pathology
- Anti-coagulation therapy
- Underlying Sepsis
- Systemic use of corticosteroids within two weeks of the procedure.
