Neuromodulator (Botox/Dysport)
Neuromodulators are wrinkle relaxing injections. Botulinum Toxin A commercially known as botox cosmetic, ordysportis used to treat static and dynamic wrinkles (Frown lines, Forehead lines, Crows feet, Lip flip, neck lines and smokers lines) Neuromodulator is injected directly into the underlying muscle, causing it to relax and gradually smooth out the appearance of the overlying skin. The effects typically last 3-4 months. Neuromodulators such as Botox are Health Canada approved to treat excessive sweating as well (under arms, hands and feet).

Pre Treatment
- Avoid alcoholic beverages at least 24 hours prior to treatment (alcohol may thin the blood and increase risk of bruising)
- Avoid anti-inflammatory/blood thinning medication, if possible for a period of 2 weeks prior to treatment. Medications and supplements such as aspirin, vit. E, ginko bilboba, ginseng, St. John's Wort, Omega 3/fish oil supplements, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Aleve and other NSAIDS have blood thinning effects and can increase risk of bruising and swelling after injections. (If you are taking prescribed blood thinning agents, consult with your physician prior to discontinuing any medication).
- Schedule your appointment at least 2 weeks prior to special events (ie. Weddings or vacations) as results may take up to 14 days to appear. Also bruising and swelling may be apparent for up to 14 days post injection.
- Reschedule your appointment at least 24hours before hand if you have a rash, cold sore or blemish on the area being treated.
- If you have a history of colds sores please let us know, as we may need to prescribe an antiviral prior to treatment.
- Be sure to have a good breakfast or meal prior to treatment as this will decrease the chances of feeling lightheaded or dizzy during treatment.
- You are not a candidate if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Post Treatment
- Do not manipulate or apply pressure (wear a hat/helmet/etc) the treated area for at least 4 hours following treatment.
- Do not lay down for at least 4 hours following treatment. This will prevent the Botox from tracking into the orbit of your eye and causing drooping eyelid.
- Do no receive facial/laser/or microdermabrasion treatment for last 10 days to the area being treated.
- It can take approximately 4 to 7 days for results to be seen. If the desired result is not seen after 2 weeks of your treatment you may need additional Botox. You are NOT charged for the amount of product used. Therefore, you will NOT be charged for a product used during any touch-up appointments.
- Do NOT perform activities involving straining, heavy lifting, or vigorous exercise for 6 hours after treatment. This will keep the Botox in the injected area and not elsewhere.
