Treatment Information
Pre Treatment
- Discontinue any strong creams like retinoids and Divine Glow about 4 days before your treatment.
- If you have any infection or irritation on your skin, please call the clinic before your treatment – it may have to be delayed. We cannot treat close to or over an active cold sore. Please call us to reschedule your laser if you have one close to the area to be treated.
- Make sure you are in good general health. The result of the treatment relies on your capacity to heal to give the desired result. This can also be affected by being on chemotherapy, radiation, immune suppressive drugs and corticosteroids.
- Inform us if you are on any strong medications or if you have any new medical concerns
- DO NOT have excessive sun exposure before PLEXR. Do not come to the treatment sunburned. This increases the risk of ending up with excessive pigmentation after PLEXR.
Post Treatment
- This should be the daily routine specific to the area that is treated. This routine should be carried out for approximately a month after the treatment, to ensure healthy healing and protection of the new skin that is forming.
- The crusts/scabs can remain up to 10 days but usually falls off by 5-7 days.
- Rinse and clean gently with soap and water twice a day – recommend a light non-abrasive cleanser (ask your therapist for a recommendation if you are not sure)
- Blot dry with a soft towel
- Disinfect eyelids or treatment areas around the eyes with Safyr bleu eyedrops twice daily. Apply with fingertip not gauze.
- Apply Liquid foundation "(LCE REGARD) – dot blot, no blending +/- 1 mm, thick. No cosmetics. This must be done up to 3-4 times a day to ensure proper coverage and protection
- Do not apply any creams, antibiotic creams, or coritsone creams over the treated areas while there are scabs in place. After the scabs are gone, ask for guidance on what creams are acceptable.
- After Scabs have fallen off – new skin (soft pink) will have formed. To promote healing apply zinc oxide cream, ozonated coconut oil or an eye cream recommended or approved by your therapist at night.
- Continue to wear coverage and SPF until skin is no longer pink. Cover the area with liquid foundation until the pink area has disappeared +/- 1 month. Thereafter use a 50 SPF sunscreen to prevent the area to become hyper-pigmented or darker
- Eye swelling will be quite intense at 24 hours
- Drink lots of water and rest for a couple days
- Inflammation will occur, use Tylenol if needed as a pain reliever
- Icing is advisable several times a day
- Do not use any active ingredients such as Retinol and AHA for 30 days
